DETROIT — An apple orchard project in Detroit has hit its online fundraising goal
Core Orchards, launched by nonprofit Wolverine Human Services, raised more than $50,000, surpassing its target and triggering a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan State Housing Development Authority through their Public Spaces, Community Places project.
“We think it’s a great way for people to build community support and awareness to get them personally and financially committed to the project,” said Matthew Wollack, senior director of marketing at Wolverine Human Service, and CEO of Core Orchards.
